New Series of Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps

This new series of pumps, based on proven liquid-ring vacuum technology, has been completely redesigned. Dolphin LM models are single-stage vacuum pumps for the vacuum range from atmospheric pressure to 100 Torr ultimate pressure. Dolphin LT models are available in two-stage versions and cover the vacuum range from atmospheric pressure to 25 Torr. A total of 13 sizes are available so that a precisely coordinated solution can be found for any process. Dolphin LM/LT vacuum pumps have a modular design and integrated flow channels. This makes them extremely compact, according to the manufacturer.  The optional motor pedestal eliminates the need for base frames, since the NEMA Premium efficiency motor is directly flange-mounted. The new seal concept with mechanical shaft seals ensures a long life cycle. The standard material for the impeller is stainless steel. A stainless steel version of the housing is available as an option.

Water or a fluid suitable for the process medium is used as the operating fluid. Ethylene glycol, mineral oils or organic solutions can also be used. Dolphin LM/LT liquid-ring vacuum pumps can be operated in once-through circulation systems, in open, or in closed liquid cycles. Their high vapor and particle tolerance makes them exceptionally well-suited for removal/extraction of wet gases or vapors, according to the manufacturer. They can be used for processing chemicals, pharmaceuticals, foodstuffs, oil and plastics, as well as wood impregnation and drying processes, and many other industrial processes. Dolphin LM/LT vacuum pumps are available in sizes with pumping speeds of 58 to 510 ACFM. Versions for operation in potentially explosive environments are available in different ATEX-compliant versions and temperature classes. — Busch LLC, Virginia Beach, Va. www.buschusa.com

Removing fine iron contaminants with magnetic filters
Eriez Manufacturing

Eriez Manufacturing

The Dry Vibrating Magnetic Filter (DVMF; photo) is specifically designed to remove very fine iron-bearing contaminants from hard-to-flow fine powders, such as lithium, which makes it well-suited for both lithium producers and users. The standard design of a DVMF consists of a solenoid electromagnet that generates a magnetic field into the bore of the separation zone. A filter element of expanded metal placed in the separation zone concentrates the magnetic flux of the magnetic field. This produces scores of high-gradient collection zones that capture magnetic contaminants as feed material filters through the element. — Eriez Manufacturing Co., Erie, Pa.

Lights with reduced blue content for special applications
R. Stahl

R. Stahl

For certain fields of application in the pharmaceutical industry and in photograph development, where a high blue content in light might compromise the quality of the products, this company offers durable, maintenance-free alternatives in the product portfolio; for example, the light-emitting diode (LED) tubular light fittings Series 6036 (photo). Through targeted conversion of the emission spectrum of the LEDs, Light fitting variants with a very low color temperature of about 1,700K are available. With such a minimized blue content, they achieve twice as much efficiency as filtered fluorescent lamps. The light, which is shifted spectrally into the yellow, preserves a certain color rendering, so that color differences and contrasts remain clearly visible. These energy-efficient light fitting variants are also suitable for replacing conventional sodium-vapor lamps and remain reliably operational even in extreme temperature conditions ranging from –55 up to 60°C. The Series 6036 is available with IP66/68 protection, and lengths of 75, 110 and 140 cm, with a service life of up to 100,000 h. — R. Stahl, Waldenburg, Germany

Free-standing separators that are modular and flexible
Enexio Water Technologies

Enexio Water Technologies

The new SKT separator models (photo) are square, made of plastic, glass-reinforced polymer, steel or stainless steel and can be optionally delivered with one or more flocculation tanks, agitators and rabble rakes and all necessary peripherals. Expansion by new modules is possible at any time. The modular design allows flexible responses to changes in process requirements. In comparison to conventional sedimentation tanks, the free-standing separators require a much smaller installation space — space savings of up to 90% are possible. Further savings result from lighter, smaller foundations and lower transport, installation and maintenance costs. Since sludge draining is done by hydrostatic pressure, usually no pumps are required, which helps save energy costs, says the company. Inside the tank, a TUBEdek parallel-plate pack ensures a reliable separation process. The great number of equidistant sedimentation levels of the chevron-shaped channels provides the system with a high hydraulic capacity and supports sludge removal. — Enexio Water Technologies GmbH, Herne, Germany
